Dr Dre drops SLS from lawsuit · 565 days ago by Same 'Ol G
This just came across my desk but apparently Dr Dre has dropped his lawsuit against SLS, who is SLS you ask? Well they are a high end audio parts company that was to provide parts along with Jibe Audio and Pentgram Design Inc That Dre was planning on using to produce a series of headphones designed for studio use with the brand name “The Beats by Dr. Dre.”
What happened is a little murky and very confusing, apparently the headphone’s were to use a special technology made by SLS called ribbon-driver’s but Dr Dre was only in negotiations with Jibe Audio and Pentgram Design, is was through these companies that Dre’s product was planned using the ribbon driver technology.
But it gets even more confusing since as the negotiations were going on SLS was actually shopping the technology around and finally sold exclusive rights to the technology to DGM Audio.
The complicating factor is SLS never signed any contracts and while Dr Dre claims they had a verbal contract it doesn’t appear theirs enough evidence to prove their case and so he had no choice but to drop them from his lawsuit.
Jibe Audio, Pentgram Design Inc and Steve Lamar (the former president of SLS) are all still named in the lawsuit but we will try to keep you updated.

Marsha Ambrosius Signs With Dre · 577 days ago by Same 'Ol G
If you haven’t heard the name Marsha Ambrosius before your not alone, up until just a week ago she was just another amature singer trying to pay the bills.
However that all changed last week when Dre made her an informal offer to do a solo project after seeing her perform twice at the infamous Roxy in California.
In a recent interview with MTV she said:
“I’m absolutely … I’m in shock, It shows all dreams are real. It’s one of those situations where I’d be a fool to pass it up. The idea was posed to my manager and he said, ’The offer is laid out on the table. What do you want to do ?’ I figured [I’m] 28 years old, I came over to the U.S. [from the U.K.] on a whim that something might happen, I’m already three albums deep with Floetry. That’s already made its mark and is something that will remain. I would genuinely be a fool not to do it. Anybody would.”

Biography on its way · 589 days ago by Same 'Ol G
An unauthorized biography is currently being written by Ronin Ro under the title “Dr. Dre: The Biography” and is reportedly in the final stages on its way to completion.
Pretty much everyone knows the public side of the world famous producer but he’s led a very reclusive life almost always shying away from the camera when its not absolutely necessary, this new biography aims to reveal his private life using in-depth research and loads of interviews as well as some good old fashioned reporting.
Ronin Ro was recently interviewed about his new book by allhiphop.com saying “We see his life in context—a few important facts about his personal life, how many of the hits were created, and how he runs Aftermath,” [Also], the chain of events that led to Tupac’s comments [and] how Dre reacted to the changes Hip-Hop underwent during the past few years.”
“I’d say the entire book [is controversial]. Instead of a Have Gun Will Travel retread, I started from scratch, approached this with fresh eyes, and crammed about two books’ worth of material into one,” he said. “You can’t please all of the people all of the time, so certain sections might infuriate some readers, particularly things about Eminem, the Game and Tupac; the NWA reunion attempt; the issue of who does what and what actually constitutes being a producer in this genre; and more…I mean, the list goes on.”
“This is reporting, not data entry. And at the end of the day, my readers will know I’ve once again tried to report the truth, instead of taking marching orders from some flash-in-the-pan pop rapper or groupie,” said Ro. “This book documents [Dre’s] false starts, setbacks, triumphs, evolution and stewardship of a company that, a decade later, is still in business, and managing to bring in money during some pretty lean times for his industry.”

Eve is on her way back · 595 days ago by Same 'Ol G
After spending the last 4 years sitting on the outside, Eve has finally decided to get back into the music industry and is already hard at work on her 4th release.
Dr Dre will be working on the production side of things along with Timbaland and Pharrell Williams. As well T.I Ne-Yo and Sizzla have signed on to do guest spots for the album.
I am personally looking forward to how this will turn out, most everything with Dr Dre and Timbaland working on it has to be a hit!

Raekwon joins Dr Dre · 597 days ago by Same 'Ol G
As the title says Raekwon has made a deal with Dr Dre’s label “Aftermath Entertainment” to release his long awaited new album “Cuban Linx II”.
But thats not all reports claim that Dre will actually be taking an active role in the new album and is already in studios with Raekwon working on some additional material.
The following statement was made on Wu Tangs homepage:
“Rae isn’t taking this album lightly and it will be released on Aftermath Records, not on the Wu Music Group as originally scheduled.”
